The 4D scan will assess the well-being of baby, including an estimated fetal weight. The more detailed package, 4D Diamond, will also check the flow in the umbilical artery and uterine arteries to make sure that your baby is receiving the correct amount of nourishment to grow and the placenta is functioning as it should. We also measure the amniotic fluid levels surrounding your baby to ensure the baby has the right amount or room to move and grow. Ideal visualization of your baby means that most 4D bonding scans are performed between 24 and 32 weeks, however, we will perform the 4D Pearl scan from as early as 10 weeks as some women want to have a 4D picture record of their baby early in its life.
Your 4D scan will be carried out by a fully qualified clinical specialist or obstetrician who is informed on all matters relating to the safety of ultrasound. Though primarily an opportunity for you to see your baby, our 4D scans are part of a medical well-being assessment and as such we will share all of our findings with you and a clinical report will be given to you to place in your pregnancy notes. We use the very latest ultrasound technology that is well maintained and use low power sound that is completely safe. 3D scanning is as safe as ordinary ultrasound and the length of our 4D scans are selected for reasons of safety and compliance with professional guidelines.
